Leave Magento without leaving your rankings behind.
Magento gives you enormous control and charges you for it in developer hours, hosting and security patching. Most businesses moving off it have simply decided that bill is no longer worth paying.

Magento 1 reached end of life in 2020 and a lot of stores never moved. Adobe Commerce is powerful and genuinely expensive to run, dedicated hosting, a developer on retainer, security patches you cannot skip, and upgrade projects that cost real money.
Shopify removes all of that, at the price of some flexibility. The migration itself is more involved than most because Magento catalogues tend to be complex: configurable products with many attributes, customer groups with tiered pricing, and a decade of URL history.
None of it is unusual. It just needs mapping properly rather than pushing through an import tool and hoping.
What makes a Magento
move different.
Configurable products exceed Shopify's limits
Magento allows unlimited attributes. Shopify permits three options per product, so complex catalogues need genuine remodelling.
Customer groups and tiered pricing
Magento's customer-group pricing has no direct Shopify equivalent below Plus, where B2B covers it.
Deep URL history
Magento stores are usually old. Ten years of category paths, layered navigation URLs and product moves all need mapping.
Custom attributes everywhere
Years of product attributes and EAV data with no obvious home in Shopify's simpler model.
How we handle
the move.
Catalogue remodelling
Configurable products mapped onto Shopify's structure, with metafields or linked products where three options genuinely isn't enough.
Customer group strategy
Tiered and group pricing rebuilt using Shopify B2B on Plus, or the closest workable model on standard Shopify, with the trade-offs stated plainly.
Complete URL mapping
Every product, category and CMS URL mapped, including layered navigation paths that have accumulated links.
Data migration and validation
Products, customers and order history moved and checked record by record against the source.
Attribute decisions documented
Each custom attribute becomes a metafield, product content, or is deliberately dropped, written down, not silently lost.
Four weeks of monitoring
Rankings and errors watched after launch, because old stores have more URLs to get wrong.

Every migration includes this.
- Full URL inventory including layered navigation paths
- 301 redirects live at launch
- Catalogue remodelled onto Shopify's product structure
- Customers and complete order history migrated
- Customer group and tiered pricing strategy
- Custom attribute mapping decisions documented
- Analytics and search property continuity
- Four weeks of post-launch monitoring
Why we'd build this on Shopify
Shopify removes the hosting, patching and upgrade burden that makes Magento expensive. You lose deep backend customisation, which most mid-market retailers were never really using.
- No more security patches, upgrades or dedicated hosting
- No developer retainer required just to keep the lights on
- Predictable monthly cost instead of unpredictable projects
How the migration runs.
- 01
Catalogue and URL audit
We inventory the product structure, attributes, customer groups and every URL with traffic or links. Magento stores always have more than expected.
- 02
Model mapping
How configurable products, attributes and pricing groups become Shopify products, metafields and price lists, agreed in writing first.
- 03
Build and import
New store built, data imported to a development store, validated against Magento record by record.
- 04
Redirects and pricing
Full redirect map prepared and reviewed; B2B or group pricing rebuilt and tested with real customer scenarios.
- 05
Launch and monitor
Cutover with redirects live, sitemap submitted, four weeks of monitoring.
What moves the price on
a migration.
We quote fixed prices per project rather than by the hour, so scope is what determines cost. These are the four things that move it most.
Catalogue complexity
The dominant factor. Configurable products with many attributes need remodelling one family at a time, and that is where the hours go.
Customer group pricing
If you rely on tiered B2B pricing, that shapes whether you need Shopify Plus and how much rebuilding is involved.
Age of the store
A ten-year-old Magento install has far more URL history and accumulated data than a recent one.
Integrations
Magento stores are usually wired into an ERP. Rebuilding those connections against Shopify's API is a project in itself.
Every project is quoted individually. Tell us what you need and we'll come back within one business day with scope, timeline and a fixed price.
Get your fixed-price quoteNobody leaves Magento because it can't do what they need. They leave because doing anything at all requires a developer, and the total cost of ownership stopped making sense.
That's a legitimate reason. The migration is more work than most, and the catalogue remodelling is where it's won or lost.

Questions merchants
ask before migrating.
We're still on Magento 1, is that a problem?+
It makes the move more urgent rather than harder. Magento 1 has had no official security support since June 2020, so you're running an unpatched commerce platform. The migration path is the same; we just treat the timeline as less flexible.
Our products have six or seven attributes. Will they fit?+
Not directly, Shopify allows three options per product. We remodel those families, usually by promoting the three that customers actually choose between into options and moving the rest into metafields, or by splitting into linked products. We work this out in the audit and show you the proposed structure before quoting.
What about our B2B customer groups?+
If tiered customer pricing is core to your business, that usually points at Shopify Plus, where native B2B handles company accounts, price lists and payment terms properly. On standard Shopify the options are more limited and we'll be straight about what you'd lose.
Will we keep our order history?+
Yes, customers and historical orders migrate so your records and customer service history stay intact. Passwords can't transfer between platforms, so customers reset on first login and we prepare the email for that.
How long does a Magento migration take?+
6 to 12 weeks, longer than most migrations because of the catalogue work and integrations. Rushing the product remodelling is the main way these go wrong.
Is Shopify going to feel limiting after Magento?+
In some ways, honestly, yes. You lose deep backend customisation. The question worth asking is whether you were actually using it, or whether you were paying for flexibility you never exercised. For most mid-market retailers it's the latter.
